With the development of society and economy,the energy demand is more and more big,the energy problem has become an important factor restricting the development of economy,people pay more and more attention on it,thus the electric vehicles obtained the fast development,and the main driving force of the electric vehicle comes from the battery.However,the battery has a variety of problems,which restricts the development of electric vehicle,it is necessary to design battery management system for monitoring and strict management of battery,and it can ensure the battery safe and effective work.Therefore,the in-depth study has important practical significance for the battery management system.Based on the analysis of the existing battery management system,the article research and design the battery management system.The main function of the battery management system is to estimate the battery state of charge of the battery state of charge,and there are many methods,this paper analysis the characteristics of the lithium ion battery,using the Thevenin battery model,and the extended Calman filter algorithm estimates the state of charge of battery.This method is using the battery dynamic data collected,based on using the Thevenin cell model,the battery as a dynamic system,the state equation and observation equation is established and the system have input and output,the battery state of charge is a system output.Then,the simulation study on the extension of Calman filtering algorithm using MATLAB,the simulation results verify the validity and accuracy of the Calman filter algorithm.Then,based on the overall design of the battery management system,the article design the hardware and software of battery management system respectively.The hardware design adopts master-slave mode,divided into the main control board and control board design.The hardware design includes a current collecting circuit,temperature detection circuit,voltage sampling circuit,battery equalization circuit,battery power module,clock circuit and communication module etc.The software design mainly includes the design of temperature collection procedures,current collection procedures and voltage collection procedures,the battery equalization algorithm and the battery charge state estimation algorithm.Finally,after the completion of the design of hardware and software of the battery management system,to test the system,temperature acquisition experiment,the voltage acquisition experiment,current acquisition experiment and the battery SOC estimation experiment were carried out,and the experimental results are analyzed,the experimentalresults show that the system can meet the technical requirements,the extended Calman filter effect good.
