Sand and dust will lead to the erosion of the gas turbine,particularly the compressor,when it is operating in particulate environment.Furthermore,the damage can result in performance degradation because of blade roughness and tip reduction.In order to acknowledge the basic theory of the sand trajectory and collision,ANSYS CFX is used to carry on the numerical simulation of the gas-solid two phase flow and sand erosion distribution in a 4-stage axial compressor,based on a validation of two-phase flow and erosion results in an elbow model within a literature.The numerical study contents of this paper include:1.Based on the numerous literatures in history,the key points and difficulties in compressor erosion field were concluded.In this way,the CFD technology and erosion empirical equations could provide sufficient theoretical foundation.2.To validate the accuracy of the two-phase flow and erosion CFD technology,the erosion results of a certain position of the elbow were compared with the data in literature.By carrying on the secondary development of CFX,the User Defined Function(UDF)could be embedded in the commercial CFD code.3.The single phase flow of 4-stage axial compressor without solid particle injection was verified by numerical simulation,and the basic variables were defined to calculate the single phase flow pattern and the operating characteristic lines of the compressor.The results got here could be the basic data of the two-phase flow,particle trajectories and erosion distribution of the follow-up chapters.4.The two-phase flow and erosion characteristics were studied with the validation of the gas-solid flow,erosion pattern and the single phase flow fluid distribution.The erosion severity and location of blades,hub and shroud in gas turbine compressor were researched when running in particulate environment.And the erosion changes were mastered varying with some parameters(particle diameter,particle injection velocity,compressor rotating speed).Finally,the effects of blade roughness and tip gap on the performance were explored with the different erosion distributions.
