In the welding production process, improve the welding production efficiency, reduce costs, has been an urgent problem to be solved.Base on a great deal of research, the welding workers put forward a number of new welding process,double-sided arc welding process(DSAW)is one of them..According to some preliminary research, the DSAW has obvious advantages over traditional welding technology. However since few study on DSAW have been performed so far, many characteristics of double-sided arcwelding remain unclear, therefore, further studies on the characteristics and its mechanism are needed to be done.So that the welding theory could be enriched and give sone guidance to application of double arc welding technology. This paper mainly takes stainless steel as experimental material to conduct a kind of bypass controllable MIG-TIG double side arc welding process test to find out the arc welding technology parameters and further optimize test parameters. And then for different parameters were compared and observed the welding seams surface forming, and analyzed through the metallographic experiment macro,to observe the weld depth of molten and heat effect zone. Finally through these data the process mechanism were analyzed.Experimental results show that the double side electric arc welding with bypass is more conducive to the weld penetration, diminishing welding thermal deformation, and improving the efficiency of the energy, which is beneficial to the fused pool to expand toward depth direction. The experiment results show that when applying high current into welding wire, the high rates of deposition and stable transition can be realized,at the same time, the raw materials heat input and arc pressure can be diminished, and the quality of welding can be improved.
