With the extensive application of composite materials in the fields such as civil engineering,ship engineering,aerospace etc.,the security of materials has been given a great deal of concern.Study the mechanical properties of the composites post fire become important issues of concern.In this paper,the glass fiber,carbon fiber and glass fiber hybrid reinforced vinyl resin laminates and PVC foam sandwich composites were prepared by vacuum assisted molding technology(VARI).The fire test equipment was used to test the fire area of the specimen in the local area,and the intumescent flame-retardant coating was used for the protection,then the post fire mechanical properties studied.The main work was focused on the following.1.FRP laminates and foam sandwich composites were prepared by VARI process,According to the relevant literature and the laboratory conditions,the fire experimental device was designed.Different kinds of specimens were subjected to fire test for post fire mechanical properties.2.Tensile and three-point bending tests were carried out on FRP laminates.Studied on the law of effect of different fire time,coating thickness on the mechanical properties of FRP laminated plates.3.Conducted FRP foam sandwich composites before and after the fire on low velocity impact(LVI)and the compression experiment research of the specimens,given the change rule and influence mechanism of low speed impact and compression mechanical properties before and after the fire.Research results show that the mechanical properties of the specimens decreased after the fire,the performance of coated specimens is better than that of uncoated specimens.The intumescent flame-retardant coating can effectively improve the post fire residual mechanical properties of FRP laminates and foam sandwich composite materials after,and improve the post fire safety performance of the composites.
