For a long time,the classical theories of earth pressure is widely accepted and applied in engineering practice,but they are only applicable to the calculation of earth pressure of the unfrozen soil,and has some limitations.In the north of China,there are many vast seasonal frozen soil area.During the winter,soil retaining engineering was affected by the frost heave of the soil,and the frost damage occurs frequently.The study on horizontal frost heaving force of retaining wall is of great engineering significance.The backfill in retaining engineering is affected by the low temperature from the surface and retaining wall during the winter,this situation is different from unidirectional freezing state.In this paper,the FLAC3 D which explicit lagrange algorithm and mixed discrete partition technique is used to study the temperature field and the horizontal frost heaving force of the fully restrained rigid retaining wall which in seasonal frozen soil area.First,the research status of frost heaving mechanism,horizontal frost heaving force and frozen soil numerical simulation at home and abroad are summarized in this paper.Then,the influencing factors of frost heaving force and horizontal frost heaving force are analyzed in detail,and the semi empirical and semi theoretical calculation methods of the horizontal frost heaving force are introduced,compared and evaluated in this paper.Next,the temperature field model of two-way cooling retaining wall is be established by Using FLAC3 D.Based on the analysis of the temperature field distribution characteristics of retaining wall with different backfill space height in the case of two-way cooling,the backfill is divided into several typical frozen areas according to the restricted form.In view of the superposition opposition retaining wall test,a fully coupled rigid retaining wall thermal coupling model is established,after that the simulation study and a comparison test are carried out.Finally,based on the numerical simulation of the horizontal frost heaving force of retaining wall with different backfill space,the distribution law and formation mechanism of horizontal frost heaving force is analyzed.For different height of retaining wall,the distribution law of different methods to calculate the horizontal frost heaving force are compared and analyzed.
