Currently,the longitudinal and lateral forces acting on the rear suspension of heavy commercial vehicles are usually transmitted by thrust rods(guiding rods).The thrust rod is prone to premature damage due to the bad driving environment and complex loading conditions.Therefore,more and more manufacturers begin to attach importance to the design and R&D of the thrust rod.Most of them optimize its structure or predict its fatigue life,but no one carries out secondary development studies that related to its analysis process.Taking a heavy commercial vehicle as the research object,the load analysis and secondary development are carried out mainly for the rear balanced suspension.A method based on ABAQUS for extracting the load of critical points of the balanced suspension is proposed.It is compared with the load obtained by ADAMS and the theoretical,which demonstrates the feasibility and accuracy of the method.At the same time,the finite element analysis of the key components of the balanced suspension is carried out,and a finite element analysis method is presented for simplifying the rubber of the thrust rod.The secondary development of the ABAQUS software based on this method is carried out to simplify the analysis process,improve the work efficiency,and shorten the design cycle.The main contents of this paper include the following aspects:1)By reading relevant literature,the significance and the status of the research are briefly described.The construction platform to creat the multi-body dynamic model of the balanced suspension and the method to model the main components in the balanced suspension are determined.2)According to the relevent knowledge of theoretical mechanics and automobile theory,combined with the relevant parameters of the vehicle,the load of the thrust rods are calculated theoretically under three different working conditions,that is acceleration,braking and turning.According to the relevant parameters of the vehicle and suspension provided by the enterprise,a multi-body dynamic model of the balanced suspension is established in the ADAMS software,and the load of the thrust rods under the three different working conditions is calculated.By consulting related data and and imitating the multi-body dynamics modeling principle,the finite element simplified model of the balanced suspension is established by using Interaction module in ABAQUS,and the load of the thrust rods under three different working conditions is calculated.3)By comparing the load values calculated by the three methods,it is found that most of the theoretical calculation results are slightly larger than those of the other two methods.The calculated results of ADAMS are close to those calculated by ABAQUS.Based on the calculated load values,the finite element analysis of the thrust rod is carried out.The results show that under the maximum working condition,the thrust rod model provided by the manufacturer can meet the relevant strength requirements.4)Based on ABAQUS,the Python script language is applied to the secondary development of the modeling and analysis process,which realizes the process automation of the suspension load calculation,and provides a new research idea for the load extraction of the critical points of the suspension.Meanwhile,the finite element analysis process of thrust rod has been secondary developed,and the corresponding plug-in program has been developed,which realizes the process automation of the analysis process,greatly shortens the development cycle and improves the work efficiency.It provides a reference for the design and development of similar products.
