The environmental problems caused by the use of fossil energy have attracted the attention of all countries in the world.The development and use of new energy plays an important role in solving the problem of fossil energy pollution.Among them,fuel cell has become the focus of experts and scholars in various countries because of its high efficiency,stability,and cleanliness.Compared to other types of fuel cells,the proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC)has the advantages of rapid response,simple structure,and other advantages.It has excellent development prospects.However,the large-scale industrialization of proton exchange membrane fuel cells is subject to its own lifespan.The harsh environment under various complicated conditions makes the life and performance of PEMFC unsatisfactory and affects the lifespan of the PEMFC.The start-up process and shutdown process are conditions that have a large impact on performance and life in these operating conditions.In this paper,a segmented cell test system has been set up based on the simple fuel cell test system.The system uses PCB technology as the core testing method for startup and shutdown processes.A new segmented cell is proposed,the segmented cell can assist in completing data monitoring and control strategy design in single stack operation and multiple stack parallel operation,which is beneficial for researchers to study the startup and shutdown processes of fuel cells under different conditions.Some compared experiments have been designed and finished to investigate the effect of temperature,relative humidity,hydrogen purge flow rate(only for the start-up process)and air purge flow rate(Only for shutdown process)on the reverse current in startup and shutdown process.Based on the analysis results,a suggest of control strategy for start-up and shut-down is given.
