The automobile electronic control unit(ECU),as the brain of an automobile,is a typical embedded application system. The ECU calibration and development difficulties are increasing as the ECU needs to meet various vehicle standards while maintaining the feature of common embedded systems.Currently, the stricter national standards on energy emission and safety and the higher demands of consumers for higher comfort, convenience and luxurious performances lead to more and more complex ECU system functions,a higher development cost and a longer development period.More problems emerge during the development process, which easily results in a project delay or even a project termination.Recalls of sold vehicles occur from time to time. Therefore, how to effectively identify and manage risks in ECU calibration and development projects remains high on the agenda of automobile enterprises. In this thesis, the B12 automobile electronic control unit calibration development project of the company B is taken as an example to showcase how a project manager is enabled to identify the risk sources, the danger level of risk factors and the impacts of risk factors on project management through risk analysis, and further design measures to address the risk factors, and finally prevent and avoid those risks to the maximum during a project.A holistic approach is adopted for analysing the practical B12 ECU calibration development project risk management process in the thesis.A risk management process can be generally divided into four stages, namely risk identifying, risk assessing, risk addressing and risk monitoring.Higher importance is attached to the stages of risk assessing and risk addressing.During risk identifying and risk assessing,a WBS-RBS decomposition method is applied and a risk classification result is acquired through a risk identifying process. Both a quantitative approach and a qualitative approach are applied to determine the major risks among the risk factors. An optimal measure is proposed through analysis on the project risk factors in the risk addressing process.Risk key values before and after the risk addressing are further compared to achieve all-around risk management monitoring. With the B12 ECU calibration development project as an example, the thesiselaborates on how to comprehensively perform risk monitoring during a project.By analysing potential risk factors in the project, comparing the risk key values before and after the risk addressing, the thesis provides a great reference for ECU calibration projects of the domestic automobile calibration industry or other related industries.Scientific decision-making is further facilitated by analyzing proposed solutions.
