Thermal insulation of steam pipes is essential during the manufacture and use of ships.For a long time,many researchers and technicians in this field have been searching for better thermal insulation materials and more effective laying forms to constantly improve the ability of ship pipes to keep warm.In recent years,with the application of the new thermal insulation material in industrial production,the thermal insulation effect has been improved.The aerogel material was originally used in aerospace,and as the production process was innovated,the production cost was reduced,and it gradually applied to the wider production area as a high-quality insulation material.Compared with traditional thermal insulation materials,aerogel materials have many advantages such as good thermal insulation performance,long service life,high repetition rate,good waterproof fireproof and healthy environment protection.In addition,with the increase of aerogel product market demand,more and more involved in the field of domestic and foreign enterprises,the production of products there are some differences in formulation and process,good and bad are intermingled on the product quality and performance.However,most of the aerogel manufacturers often cannot publish the real performance data of their products,or assume that any aerogel products on the performance difference is not big,even do replace with other manufacturer's product data.Therefore,this research not only should the aerogel materials compared with the traditional heat preservation material,at the same time,also choose two kinds of aerogel insulation blanket from different manufacturers,in order to more fully assess the performance of the aerogel thermal insulation material,for the ship provides the theory basis for the selection of gas gel products.The results show that the use of aerogel materials can reduce energy loss by 36.03%~38.39% compared with the thermal insulation material.At the same time,the life of aerogel materials is longer,which can reach 20 years.Aerogel materials are better waterproof and have stronger anti-corrosion ability.Under the conditions of flooding and stampedes,the aerogel materials can be used normally,and the traditional insulation materials(ceramic fiber felt)selected by the study cannot meet the requirements of use.In addition,this study selects the same type of air gel insulation blanket from different manufacturers.Results show that,due to the different production process and formula twoaerogel products in the thermal insulation performance,conditions of use and reuse,material composition and heat release content have obvious difference.This study argues that the aerogel thermal insulation material used in ships,especially large ship steam pipe insulation,compared with the traditional heat preservation material advantage significantly,can significantly improve the quality of steam,save energy consumption and prolong service life,strengthening the production and use of safety,etc.Moreover,the application on the ship of the aerogel products need to advance through the scientific method for testing and selecting,can give full play to the aerogel thermal insulation material in the practical application of advantage,improve steam pipe heat preservation effect of the ship.
