Cable is a basic component jointly relative modern industry,agriculture,and population's life.Insulation and sheath failures are main causes of cable lost its function.Fast and available rejuvenation to earlier failures under random and specific conditions are great significance in science & technique and economics.Breaking constraint of traditional thought without extensive damage of product,the technological system starts from the local standard geometry elimination on insulation/sheath materials around cable insulation failure sections.And then,one standard injection plastic technology can be applied for rejuvenation on one scaled cable no matter of the failure mode of water tree or local mechanical damage.By this advancement,a systematic injection plastic technology is further developed for rejuvenation on local failure of cable insulation.It consists of three branches:(1)Matched insulation/sheath material manufacturing to original ones.Base on rules of matching in chemical composition and property requirement,a set of composition identified techniques are developed and applied to insulation/sheath materials of a railway locomotive cable.Further,corresponding injection plastic material manufacturing techniques are constructed and applied to the insulation/sheath materials.And these techniques have successfully applied for the insulation/sheath material manufacturing of the railway locomotive cable.(2)Standardization injection plastic moulds and technologies.Matched structural spaces are designed and constructed to the eliminations on insulation/sheath materials and have well connected with injection plastic machine and mould temperature controller.The technologies are constructed to combine the moulds,injection plastic machine and mould temperature controller together to perform the rejuvenation action with an optimal effects of matching the physical properties of applied insulation/sheath materials for rejuvenation.Rejuvenation application and practice on insulation failures of rail cables,which are insulated by ethylene propylene diene monomer with chloro-sulfonated polyethylene sheath,have verified applicable of the present injection plastic moulds and technologies.(3)Coded quality approval regularities.Localization,realizability and performance requirements,rejuvenation quality test items and methods are suggested on the current railway cable performance requirement code TB/T 1484.1.Three branches are contained.They are conduction electric protection,burning security,and service mechanical properties to avoid mechanical damage.Three branches are jointly to produce an advanced technological system for rejuvenation on cable insulation failures.Applicability of the present technological system is indicated by rejuvenation practices on railway locomotive cables,which are insulated by ethylene propylene diene monomer with chloro-sulfonated polyethylene sheath.
