Colorado potato beetle (CPB), is an important invasion pest on potato crops worldwide. As a migratory pest, understanding the diffusion pattern will be more effective for CPB prevention and control. In order to clarify the spatial and temporal distribution pattern of CPB populations in field, explore new technologies for prevention and control methods to CPB populations. In this study, systematic investigation of the population dynamics in field and spatial distribution pattern of its population, population diffusion law field, and the impact of the Xinjiang desert oasis habitat characteristics using geostatistical interpolation method. The results show that the distribution of CPB field population is aggregated in Xinjiang, the population density of each generation gradually shifted from the edge to the center area of the plots, showing the initial edge high-density, high-density region late centers. The plots edge of potato field is the key to prevention and control of the area for CPB, the edge of the area planted plots of non-host plants, or to establish a physical barrier to effectively prevent and control the CPB infestation. In the region of CPB occurrence in Xinjiang, different generations (the overwintering generation, the first generation and second generation) adults, in the field, mainly through short-range crawl. On the diffusion speed, the first generation adult of CPBs diffusion rate was significantly lower than the overwintering generation and second-generation of adults, and second generation and overwintering generation adults diffusion speed were not significantly different, the diffusion rate of females is greater than males. In the diffusion direction, each generation of adults diffusion no clear direction, it was around to random diffusion trend. Typical characteristics of our desert oasis ecological landscape Xinj iang region, resulting in a shortage of host plants of CPB, and the Tianshan Mountains natural barrier together, the existing distribution and diffusion of the CPB main determinant factor in the Xinjiang region.
