Forest fire bursts quickly,and is one of the most severe disasters among the world.It can directly influence the ecological equilibrium and destroy it heavily.At the same time it can lead to property loss and casualties.Forest fire can change the Physiological status of forest palnts,and discharge smoke and Greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.It can influence the world's climate and environment,so it's essential to study some methods for the forest fire monitoring.This paper mainly studied the methods to pick up forest fire using MODIS data.First the features of MODIS data and the MODIS V4 fire detection algorithm were analysed and summarized,and then the MODIS V4 algorithm was improved combined with the Geographical status and climate status of the forests in Yunnan.The Applicability of the fire-picking-up algorithm improved is better than before,and is suitable to the forest fire monitoring at daytime in Yunnan.The result of my study indicates that MODIS data have great potential in forest fire detection.The main conclusions of this paper is listed as follows:1)According to the Reflection characteristic of clouds and different ground objects,this paper improved the cloud detection algorithm before using different MODIS bands.Then the cloud information in Yunnan was picked up using the cloud detection algorithm improved,and the result is ideal.2)The high temperature pionts were picked up by Ratio model,and the Absolute threshold of the previous algorithm was improved,so the high temperature points in the research area can be Distinguished.3)Appropriate threshold was chosen to detect the noise points,according to the reflectance property of the noise points and the forest fire points at the 31th band and the 32th band,the purpose of this work is to eliminate the high temperature points at the surface of the ground.4)Choosing the reflectance of the 2th band of the MODIS data as the condition of detecting the low temperature points,The purpose of this job is to detect the low temperature points.5)Choosing NDVI as the basia to pick up the forest,and NDVI was adjusted according to the nature condition of the research area.The purpose of this work is to pick up the forest information.6)The clouds and noise points were elimated after the high temperature points and the low temperature points were combined.The result was superposed with the forest.The final result is forest fire points.
