The population of Taxus chinensis, which growing in Wuling Mountain, Chongqing City, China, was chosen as the material of the survey. The ecological characteristics of the populations and communities was analyzed by the way of quantity statistics, includes the age structure of Taxus chinensis, the static life table of population, the survival curve of population, the spectrum analysis of population, the distributing pattern of population, the density effect model of population, the diversity of species, the niche of main population and the interspecies association. The main results are following:(1) The age structure of Taxus chinensis was studied by the way, which was diameter at breast height instead of age. And it declared that the population of Taxus chinensis was vitality, it was in the growth type.(2) The static life table of Taxus chinensis population was worked out at the basic of diameter at breast height, and then the survival curve and loss curve was worked out. It declared that the type of the survival curve of Taxus chinensis population was Deevy-II.(3) The population fluctuation of Taxus chinensis was analyzed by the way of population spectrum. And it declared that the changes in the number of Taxus chinensis population were multi-harmonic superposition changes, which was small cycle in large cycle.(4) The population of Taxus chinensis was analyzed by the way of aggregation index method, Taylor's power law model, Iwao m* and m regression method. It declared that the population distribution of Taxus chinensis was cluster distribution. And it also declared that since the individual grow, the population aggregation degree would be drop.(5) The population of Taxus chinensis was analyzed by the way of density model of Wu Cheng-zhen. It declared that since the number of trees increased in per unit area, the average basal area of each Taxus chinensis would increased.(6) The community of Taxus chinensis was also analyzed by the way of Shannon-Winner exponent, Simpson exponent and evenness exponent of Pielou. It declared that the diversity of the 5 sample areas was:sample area ?> sample area ?> sample area ?> sample area ?> sample area ?.(7) The niche width of the main tree species, which were in the community of Taxus chinensis, was analyzed by the way of Shannon-Winner exponent. It declared that the niche width of Taxus chinensis was the most.(8) The niche overlap of the main tree species, which were in the community of Taxus chinensis, was analyzed by the way of index of redundancy of Pianka. It declared that the Taxus chinensis had a high overlap nature on each resource niche.(9) The Interspecific association degree of the main species, which were in the community of Taxus chinensis, was analyzed by the way of rank correlation analysis of Spearman. It declared that the Taxus chinensis was dominant socials.The results showed that the population of Taxus chinensis was in growth. And there had a large number of seedlings of Taxus chinensis in the population. But the choice of habitat and competitive pressures lead a little seedlings could only grow. Besides, the adult of Taxus chinensis occupied the position of the dominant species in the whole population of ecological niche.
