Land use is the cause of soil erosion and strengthening factors, and soil erosion and can limit the way and structure of land use, resulting in degradation of land productivity. The main cause of soil erosion is the loss of soil and water, and the soil erosion accelerates the unreasonable land use. Soil erosion directly leads to soil and water loss, which is the main goal of land reclamation in China. Based on geographical information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS), the relations between erosion intensity and land use can be analyzed by using the soil erosion classification. This study tries to hold the characteristics of land use and soil erosion on the whole and offer some reliable reference suggestions for scientific decision-making.Results show:Forest is the principal land use type in Miyun County in 2003 and 2013 with coverage of 49.00% and 59.19% respectively. And urban, water, unused land, farmland and grassland land use types irregular scattered in the forest. The areas of forest, farmland, water and increase, while the areas of urban, unused land and grassland decrease. The increase of forset is the largest by 226.68km2, and the unused land reduced most by 146.35km2. Except for the center of gravity of the water, the center of gravity of other types of land use offset significantly.Soil erosion intensity and soil erosion area showed a negative linear correlation. Micro erosion is the principal soil erosion type in Miyun County in 2003 and 2013 with a coverage of 58.94% and 52.23% respectively. And slight ersion take the second place by 33.48% and 34.52% respectively. The area of forest is the largest in the micro erosion and slight erosion and the area of farmland is the largest in other types of erosion. In the type of forest land, the micro erosion area accounts for 59.63% and 48.18% of the total erosion area. In farmland type, the micro erosion area accounts for 52.72% and 57.06% of the total erosion area. In the type of water area, the micro erosion area accounts for 83.22% and 74.36% of the total erosion area. In the unused land, the micro erosion area accounts for 50.03% and 37.81% of the total erosion area. In the urban area, the micro erosion area accounts for 76.23% and 71.17% of the total erosion area. The main erision type in all types of land use is micro erosion in Miyun County. Among all land use types,the erosion of farmland was the most serious, unused land take the second place, far more than other types of land use types.
