Hawthorn is one of the widely cultivated fruit trees in north China.In this paper,Wulinghong,Ruifeng,Qiujinxing,Xinbingruanzi,Dahuangmianzha,279 and its hybrids offspring who were five years old were chosen to the research object.The study was conducted to investigate the fruit pericarp color,the fruit weight,the pulp color,the sugar content and acid content and the leaf spot resistance,the main results are as follows:1.The fruit pericarp color.Ruifeng(orange peel)and Dahuangmianzha(yellow peel)was cross-fertilized.There were 28 hybrids,and only 8 hybrids had seeded.In the 8 hybrids,there were 2 red peel hybrids,4 yellow peel hybrids and 2 middle color between the red and yellow peel.279(red peel)and Dahuangmianzha(yellow peel)was cross-fertilized.There were 7 hybrids,and only 5 hybrids had seeded.All of the5 hybrids were red peel.Above all inferred that the red peel was dominant heredity,and the yellow peel was recessive heredity.2.The fruit size.The study on the fruit size in each combination showed that the fruit size was between the parents' fruit size in the most combinations.In the combination of Wulinghong×Ruifeng,the average of fruit weight in the hybrids was heavier than the parents,and there were the potential of increasing the fruit size.3.The fruit pulp color.In the 27 hybrids of Wulinghong×Ruifeng and 8 hybrids of Ruifeng×Qiujinxing,most of the hybrids' fruit pulp color was the same to the parents'.Otherwise,there were a few of other different colors,the inheritance of the fruit pulp color was more complex,and which needed further study.4.The fruit sugar content and acid content.In the hybrids of Wulinghong×Ruifeng,there was the lower sugar-acid ratio.And in the hybrids of Ruifeng×Qiujinxing,there was the lower sugar-acid ratio,but in individual hybrids,the sugar-acid ratio was closed to the parents'.And there was the potential of breeding the table hawthorn.5.The leaf spot resistance.In the 171 hybrids of Ruifeng×Xinbinruanzi,there were 130 disease-resistant hybrids and 41 disease-infected hybrids.Crossing to the chi-square test,the ratio of leaf spot resistance accorded with the theory ratio(3:1).This showed that the leaf spot resistance inheritance was controlled by the single-gene,and the disease-resistant was dominant heredity,and the disease-infected was recessive heredity.This study had certain reference significance to the cross-breeding of hawthorn.
