Lily is a kind of perennial herbaceous flowers, belonging to the genus Lilium(Liliaceae), it is one of the most important cut flowers worldwide. The breeding work of lily in our country is still in the initial stage, lily bulbs mainly rely on foreign imports. In order to break this situation,we must through the continuous research of Lily cross breeding to breed more excellent lily varieties and promote the development of lily industry in China. This research reference the rule of ‘LA'(Longiflorum × Asiatic)lily breeding, chose‘OT'(Oriental × Trumpet) lily ‘Fairy' and ‘Pink champion' and Oriental hybrids‘Sorbone' and ‘Siberia'. Hybridization was performed on the premise of determining male and female fertility. We hope to have more variation in offspring. The experimental results are as follows:1. The pollen germination of lily used in experiment was observed, and the results showed that ‘Fairy' and ‘Pink champion' have no pollen germination force and males are not fertile. Pollen germination rate of ‘Sorbone' and ‘Siberia' are 43% and 59%respectively. In order to improve the successful rate of hybridization we take the ‘Fairy'and ‘Pink Champion' as female parent, ‘Sorbonne' and ‘Siberia' as male parent for hybridization. A total of 9 combinations were obtained, and a certain number of fruits were obtained. Among them, the combination of the ‘Fairy' × ‘Siberia' was the highest, reaching 80%. After the embryo rescue of the developing embryo in the fruit, a small number of developing seedlings were obtained. The emergence rate of the four hybrid combinations was between 8% and 4%.2. Chromosome preparation of the root tip of a well developed hybrid of14209(‘Fairy' × ‘Siberia'), the chromosome composition of the hybrid 14209-1(‘Fairy'× ‘Siberia') and 14209-2(‘Fairy' × ‘Siberia') was observed. The results showed that The chromosome of 14209-1 and 14209-2 is in 24 to 34, they are aneuploid. This phenomenon did not occured in the results of the previous derivation, which is the error caused by the production, pending further confirmation. The results of this experiment showed that the differences of male and female fertility of "OT" lily were in agreement with the "LA" lily, that is, the female is fertile and the male is not fertile. But the ploidy of the offspring needs further analysis. This result has a high reference value for the cultivation of new varieties of "OT".
