Tall fescue?Festuca arundinace?belong to the cool-season turfgrass,which adapt to many special environments.More and more attentions and applications are given to this type because of their heat resisting property and evergreen all the year.It is more and more important to evaluate and find out the right types,which fit in with different regions and climates,for the development of the grass cultivation and administration.Moreover,there is one more significant project to improve their adaptabilities when undergoing salt stress.In the study,we are talking about a comprehensive evaluation of the tall fescue cultivars from two aspects,in the hyperhaline soil and other combined stressful environments,and referring to a planting guide in Nanjing surrounding area.1.The part of the field experiment was designed systematically to assess their adaptabilities for ten kinds of grasses,according to the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program?NTEP?.We find out the universal existence that ten different types of tall fescue grow well in the hot summer,though owning each different phenotypic characters.In the same experimental treatment,TF008 and TF028 samples show brilliant abilities and well-growth,and TF001 sample performs badly as well.2.On a fifty-day test,something was worked out in natural drought stress and in the salt stress?250 mmol/L NaCl solution?,that finding out the stress-resistant and salt-sensitive varieties according to their phenotypic characters.We can reach a conclusion that TF007 and TF028 samples behave good stress-resistant,while TF001 and TF011 samples show their salt-sensibility.3.In the climate chamber,additional experiment was organized for the thirty-five-day hyperhaline solution of the TF001 type.The tall fescueleaves were sprayed with K2SO4,glycine betaine?GB?,ascorbate?Asb?solutions every seven days,then we take out the salt-stress abilities via their physical signs.These three solutions can help the grass suffer from hyperhaline environment,besides,glycine betaine solution is the most effective.As a result of salt-stress,turf quality?TQ?,relative water content?RWC?,osmotic adjustment?OA?,electrolyte leakage?EL?and the ratio of Na+ to K+ displayed significantly positive influence.At the same time,the active ingredient,catalase?CAT?and ascrobate peroxidase?APX?,acted in full swing.Moreover,it was playing an important part in the less-accumulation of hydrogen peroxide?H2O2?and malondialdehyde?MDA?.After all said and done,tall fescue TF008 and TF028 is the most suitable type in the Nanjing grass cultivation,where TF028 type is also able to overcome the summer hot.If Tall fescue were incurring salt-stress,to splash GB solution could give a lot of help.
