Forest fuel is the the first condition of forest fire, and the potential energy distribution and fire intensity of a certain area can be predicted based on the fuel load. However, the volume of the fuel load under different stand conditions are not the same, study the characteristics of different forest stand description factors and surface fuel load correlation can help fire managers on forest fuel management.Four stand types were analyzed of surface fuel load characteristics and its correlation with stand description factors in this paper.The models were formed with the significant and extremely significant stand description factors which were choosed by the correlation analysis.The main search conclusions were as follows:?1?The proportion of forest litters fuel load in all the stand types at surface fuel load was more big.The proportion of forest litters fuel load in surface fuel load was less for Pinus tabuliformis Carriere, amount to 69.75%,while it was large for Larix gmelinii,amount to 94.55%.The proportion of herbaceous fuel load in surface fuel load was less for Pobulus davidiana, amount to 1.60%,while it was large for Pinus tabuliformis Carriere,amount to 15.43%.The proportion of shrubs fuel load in surface fuel load was less for Larix gmelinii,amount, amount to 2.8%,while it was large for Betula platyphylla Suk,amount to 31.19%. The surface fuel load of Pobulus davidiana was the largest,while the surface fuel load of Pinus tabuliformis Carriere was the smallest.Depending on the relative moisture content,fuel sample was divided into five grades as follows:<1> extremely flammable type,<2> flammable type,<3> representing flammable type,<4> flame type,<5> difficult fuel type.?2? Total surface fuel load was mainly relative to the slope,crown density.average height and forest litters thickness.Shrubs fuel load was mainly relative with altitude,slope, canopy density,average plant age and averge diameter at breast height.Herbaceous fuel load was mainly relative with altitude,average height and canopy density.Forest litters fuel load was mainly relative with altitude,slope and crown density.?3?The model of estimate surface fuel load was formed with stand description factors which was as follows:a.Shrubs fuel load of Pinus tabuliformis Carriere forest Y=2939.22-16.546X,+0.275X2-2486.87X3-140.72X4+44.02X5b.
