Weeds is one of the important problems in rice production. To study the herbicidal activities of soybean protein and its fermentation liquid, a bacterial strain named L-5 was isolated from the soy sauce residue. Based on the morphology, physio-biochemical characteristics and 16S rDNA sequence analysis, L-5 was identified. The soybean protein isolate (SPI) at rate of 0.5mg/mL, 1mg/mL,2mg/mL,4mg/mL were fermented in different times by L-5, The root inhibitory activity of Fermentation liquid on Echinochloa crusgalli (L.) Beauv was observed by hydroponics experiments. in order to explore the biological control effect and the controlled mechanism of weeding function-organic fertilizer, The change of conductivity and transmittance on the water layer in paddy field was measured. A field experiment was done to confirm the effect of the weeding function-organic fertilizer on weed control in rice fields.Main results as follows:(1) Based on the morphology, physio-biochemical characteristicsand 16S rDNA sequence analysis, L-5 was identified as Bacillus subtilis.(2)Fermentation liquid of SPI had higher root inhibitory activity than SPI. Inhibition ratio of fermentation liquid of SPI raised from 345% to 56.6%,90.0% and 97.8% on 24h, 48h and 72h respectively at concentration of 0.5mg/mL, showed significant differences.(3)The results indicated the weeding function-organic fertilizer can effectively control weed in Riceand. The control efficiency to weeds was better than rice chaff. Treated with 640 kg/667m2 application amounts of 45d on barnyardgrass and Monochoria control effect were 77.05% and 74.12% respectively, and the fresh weight control effect reached 73.03% and 73.68% respectively..(4)After the use of the weeding function-organic fertilizer, the conductivity on water layer of paddy field was significantly higher than that of other treatment group, the transmittances of paddy field were significantly lower than that of other treatment group.
