Starvation is one of most common physiological stresses in fish species, and it is the key factors affecting the behavior and energy metabolism of fish.To explore the effect of food availability on behavior and metabolism of a common cyprinid-qingbo,we measured the standard metabolic rate(SMR),personality(activity, exploration, boldness)and schooling behavior(Cohesion and coordination)of both control and food deprived(FD)condition. The main findings of this study are as follows:(1)The SMR was significantly decreased in both FD and the control groups, whereas only the SMR of FD group showed repeatability across experiment;(2)Starvation resulted in a significant increase in exploration, but it showed no significant impact on other personality parameters;(3)Starvation elicited shorter individual distance among group member but higher swimming speed and its synchronization;(4)SMR was irrelevant with any personality parameters(activity, exploratory, and boldness)in either FD or control group;(5)SMR was significantly correlated with group behavior in only FD group but not control group;(6)Personality behavior was significantly correlated with group behavior in FD and control group. The results shows that:(1)Starvation resulted the changes of energy metabolism and behavior of qingbo.(2)Starvation results the correlation of energy metabolism and behavior.(3)There is a correlation between the individual behavior and schooling behavior of qingbo, and the association was more significant under starvation conditions.
