Nelumbo nucifera is aquatic root flower and one of the top ten traditional famous flowers of China. It has unique flower, bright colors, tall and straight plant type, very high ornamental value, having many forms such as lake planting, pond planting and potting, and is widely used in all kinds of park, scenic spot, garden water scene or interior decoration. There is a cultivation history of 3000 years in our country, however,it has many problems such as lack of criterion management in the actual cultivation of potted lotus, leading to the irregular and weak growth, with serious diseases and insect pests, which greatly influenced the ornamental effect.Based on the understanding of the current situation of lotus cultivation and management in Beijing area, this study aimed to explore the optimal method of lotus cultivation and management through pot lotus planting methods and fertilizing methods experiments, the conclusions are as follows:1.Under the flat planting and lean planting, plant petiole length, bud length, vertical leaf size, plant height, floating leaf number, vertical leaf number and flower number were no significant differences, and flowering time was same.Indicating two planting ways had no obvious effect in the growth and development of the plant, lotus rhizome planting ways had no obvious effect on plant growth and development, the flat planting and lean planting modes can be used in the production practice of the rhizome plant, but rhizome flat planting more simple, more conducive to reduce labor and management costs.2.Lotus rhizome under different soil thickness, there is a significant differences in petiole length, bud length, plant height, and flower number. The soil thickness of lotus rhizome is 12 cm,the flowering time is earliest and the flower number is most, but the soil thickness of lotus rhizome is 8 cm plant flowering earlier, more flowers and the flowers on the leaves, mosaic administrative levels feels strong, tall and straight, having more ornamental effect, the soil thickness of lotus rhizome is 4 cm plant growth and development situation of poor overall. The comprehensive analysis suggests that the soil thickness of the lotus rhizome in the cultivated culture is 8cm.3.Researching the plant growth and development under different soil volume, results showed that 1/2 and 3/4 soil volume can make more lotus rhizome and the larger lotus rhizome relative growth rate, lotus rhizome stout, better quality,in 1/2 soil volume the plant in plant height, petiole length, bud length, vertical leaf size and the number of flower are best, the flowers on the leaves, mosaic distinct, having good ornamental effect. There was no significant difference in chlorophyll, soluble sugar and starch content in different pot soil volume.Comprehensive analysis the cultivation of actual production the soil volume is 1/2 bowl.4.Researching the plant under the way of no fertilizer, base fertilizer and topdressing, its growth and development status, the results showed that the topdressing method can make more lotus rhizome, the larger lotus rhizome relative growth rate, the plant tall and straight, flowers on the leaves, mosaic administrative levels feels strong, having more ornamental effect.Suggesting to adopt the way of topdressing in the cultivation of actual production, according to the demand of plant in different growth stages, arising from the need to fertilization, more benefit for the growth of plants. To sum up,this study can provide certain amount of experimental foundation and theoretical basis of Beijing area lotus plant cultivation management techniques and conducive to the specification in the Beijing area of the lotus cultivation techniques and lotus cultivation promotion and large-scale production.
