Objective: To detect the changes of insulin-like growth factors in idiopathic short stature(ISS)treated with growth hormone,to investigate the relationship between IGF-1and IGFBP-3 with growth velocity in in ISS treated with GH.Methods: 50 cases diagnosed as ISS were selected in department of pediatrics of our hospital from October,2014 to December,2014 and were treated with rh GH.the height increased in 6 months more than 3cm were divided into effective group,while increased below 3cm were divided into ineffective group.50 healthy children were selected as the control group in the same period.Ages,bone ages of all groups were recorded.Both height and expression level of IGF-1,IGFBP-3 of effective and ineffective group(before and after treatment)and the control group was detected respectively.All the results were collected and statistically analyzed.Results:The ages,bone ages in effective and ineffective group were 8.8±0.9,8.2±0.8 and 8.9±0.8,8.4±0.9,the ages,bone ages in control group were 8.6±0.9,8.4±0.9.The ages and bone ages of three groups had no statistical significance(P>0.05);The level of height,IGF-1,IGFBP-3 in effective and ineffective group(before treatment)were 115.2±5.4,155.13±65.28,3.701±0.692 and 114.9±5.7,147.42±60.57,3.584±0.635,the level of height,IGF-1,IGFBP-3 in control group were 124.4±6.3,268.54±86.75,5.014 ± 1.240.Compared with the control group,the level of height,IGF-1,IGFBP-3 in effective and ineffective group(before treatment)were significant lower,while the changes of height,IGF-1,IGFBP-3 in in effective and ineffective group(before treatment)had no statistical significance(P>0.05).The level of height,IGF-1,IGFBP-3 in effective and ineffective group(after treatment)were 121.1±7.2,271.82±90.37,5.156± 1.322 and 115.9 ± 6.4,208.23 ± 73.85,3.597 ± 1.112,the level of height,IGF-1,IGFBP-3 in control group were 127.5±6.7,208.23±73.85,3.597±1.112.The change of height of three groups had statistical significance(P<0.01).The level of IGF-1,IGFBP-3 of effective and control group were higher than ineffective group(after treatment).The change of IGFBP-3 of three groups had no statistical significance(P>0.05).The height growth and ? IGF-1 of effective and ineffective group is 4.9 ±1.2,116.69 ± 42.83 and 1.1 ± 1.0,22.81 ± 10.95.The height growth and ? IGF-1 of effective group were higher than ineffective group(P<0.01).? IGF-1 was positively correlated with height growtht growth by correlation analysis(r=0.726,P<0.01)?Conclusion: The level of IGF-1,IGFBP-3 is low in ISS;The change of IGF-1,but not IGFBP-3,may be related to the height growth of ISS treated with rh GH.
