ObjectiveThe aim of this topic was to assess the level of the elderly medication safety status quo,to explore the influence factors of the elderly medication safety who diagnosed as chronic diseases,thereby enhancing the elderly drug safety awareness and also in order to improve the level of drug safety knowledge and to provides for the elderly the theory basis for health education.MethodsThe study used convenience sampling method.Using self-designed questionnaire to survey 558 old patients in Jinzhou communities the level of the elderly medication safety status quo and its influence factors.The questionnaire was consist of the subjects' general condition,illness,the way of accessing the knowledge on drug safety,the use of medication,the behavior on drug safety and knowledge on medication safety.The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis,?2-test,one-way ANOVA,t-test,multiple stepwise regression and Logistic regression of SPSS 17.0 statistical software package.ResultsThe rate of ADR was 27.78%in the elderly;medication for more than or equal to four kinds was 47.85%;medication for more than or equal to five years was 25.45%.The main disease of the elderly were Cardiovascular diseases(61.65%),Diabetes mellitus(52.15%),Chronic bronchitis(42.11%).The main way to get drug safety knowledge were medical staff(98.03%),specification(91.04%),relatives and friends(85.13%).The incorrect medication behavior in the elderly,such as taking the wrong medicine,or missing medicine,stopping the medication and increasing or decreasing medicine,etc.The score of drug safety knowledge were(9.26±3.66),the rate of.score was 57.89%.Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis shows that the influence factors of the elderly medication safety knowledge scores are: education level,ADR,the background of medical,the source of drugs,whether received medication safety health education(P < 0.05).Logistic regression analysis shows that the main influencing factors of drug safety are: educational level,the kind of medication,the time of medication,the source of drugs,whether received medication safety health education lectures and the score of safety of medication knowledge(P < 0.05).ConclusionsThe rate of ADR in the elderly was higher.The elderly was lack of knowledge on drug safety,especially in drug combination,ADR,health products,Chinese medicine;There are many wrong behavior in the course of self-medication,such as taking the wrong medicine,or missing medicine,stopping the medication and increasing or decreasing medicine,etc.Patient's educational level,the kind of medication,the time of medication,the source of drugs,whether received safety of medication health education lectures and the score of safety of medication knowledge was the main influencing factors of safety of medication.By the regression coefficient,health education on drug safety had a more obviously effect on the safety ofmedication.The elderly who prior received health education on drug safety has better safety of drugs,so health education should be carried out for the elderly,enhancing the level of safety of medication knowledge,thereby reducing the occurrence of ADR,promoting their health.
