Comparative Analysis Of Parents’ Personality Characteristics And Intelligence Between Autistic Children And Normal Children

Objective:To compare and analyse the difference of personality characteristics and intelligence between parents of children with autistic spectrum disorders(ASD) and parents of healthy children,to prevent ASD children’s adverse behaviors which owning to the problems of their parents’ personality characteristics or intelligence; moreover, to discuss the interrelationship between the personality traits of the parents and the ASD children’s dangerous behaviors, so as to provide the scientific bases for carrying out intervention and support for the parents and their ASD children.Methods:Case group for the parents of children definitely diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders in 50 cases in the autism outpatient clinic of Chidren’s Hospital of JIANGXI Province between March 2015 and Januray 2016. Including boys in 48 cases and girls in 2 cases, The children passes through the Chidren’s Hospital of JIANGXI Province by pediatric doctors diagnose who are in possession of associate senior professional title at least. Meeting the diagnostic of DSM-V criteria for autism children. This research also on the adoption of children with childhood autism rating scale to assess both meets the diagnostic criteria for autism at the same time. To study on the case group of parents of the typical autism children with fathers 40 cases and mothers 50 cases.Control groups for 85 parents including fathers 40 cases and mothers 45 cases from 50 cases normal children, the children no finding in physical, neurological, mental health check with somatic diseases and nervous system diseases from the native region. According to the gender and age of the child,to match the age and schooling,vocation of the parents of children. Requirements children ages differ by not more than three months in the case group, closer in the age and schooling of parents.Through a suite of test scales including the Cattell-16 pf and the Raven’s Standard Progressive Matrices were applied to 90 autistic children’s parents and 85 normal children’s parents.The content includes 16 kind points of personality characteristics and 5 kind points of intelligence elements in total,then to analyse the difference of all the points respectively.Results:1. The gender composition from children with ASD of case group and normal children of control group examined by Pearson chi square test was statistically significant, the two groups of children with gender exists difference(χ2=21.93,P<0.0001); the age between two groups of children examined by Pearson chi square test was not statistically significant, the two groups of children’s age exists no difference(P=0.792>0.05)2. Cases group of children with ASD evaluated by CARS, using statistical software to calculate the score is(38.38±2.12), met the diagnostic criteria for typical ASD.3. There were no statistically significant differences(P>0.05) in gender, age and education level examined by Pearson chi square test between case group parents and control group parents.4. The gregariousness, stableness, communication which of the Cattell personalities scores in fathers of children with ASD are lower than those of healthy children,and it is the same with mothers,the difference is significant(P≤0.01); the scores of sensitivity, skepticism, anxiety, tension in fathers of children with ASD are higher than those of healthy children,and it is the same with mothers,the difference is significant(P<0.01).5. In the binary element adaptation and anxiety, scores in fathers of children with ASD are higher than those of the healthy children, and it is the same with mothers,the difference is significant(P<0.01); in introversion and extroversion, psychological healthy and stable factors,scores in fathers of children with ASD are lower than those of the healthy children, and it is the same with mothers, the difference is significant(P<0.01).6. There was no statistically significant difference in the total score of the parents’ intelligence and the scores of 5 components(P>0.05).Conclusion:1. The male of children are more susceptible to autistic spectrum disorders(ASD).2. Compared with parents of healthy children,Parents of children with ASD are more introverted,worried,depressed,silent,eccentric,and emotionally excitable as well as more unstable mood; in the face of difficulties and setbacks parents of children with ASD often more anxious, irritable, and they easily shrink retreat, even come to be gloomily pessimistic.Parents of children with ASD are more easily tripped by ado,so they could be more physically and mentally tired,it leads to insomnia and dreaminess; In life their thoughts are very sensitive even neurotic, headstrong.3. There is no significant difference in intelligence level between parents of ASD children and parents of healthy children.4. The study also indicates that there is a close interrelationship between the personality traits of the parents and the ASD children’s behaviors.
