Study On Sub-health State And Associated Factors Among Middle School Students In Tianjin

Objective:The study was to explore the detection and distribution of sub-health and its related factors of middle school students using Multidimensional Sub-health Questionnaire of Adolescents(MSQA)in Tianjin,in order to provide guidance on prevention and control methods.Method:A total of 4500 valid samples from 6 districts and 3 towns of Tianjin were recruited and stratified cluster sampling strategy was used during the period from April to July,2013.Self-designed questionnaire was used,including basic information scale,MSQA,YIAT-C,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI).180 people randomly selected from all the participants participated in test-retest reliability survey one week later.Questionnaires were entered using Epidata Entry 3.1 and were rechecked to ensure the accuracy of the data.The statistical analysis was conducted using the SPSS 18.0 statistical package.Result:A total of 4,500 questionnaires were distributed and 4,011 effective questionnaires were recovered,yielding a response rate of 91.22%.180 questionnaires were distributed and 170 effective questionnaires were recovered in the retest.The reliability and validity of MSQAThe test-retest reliability of MSQA is 0.851,Cronbach's a coefficient is 0.966,the split-half reliability is 0.940.Cronbach's a coefficient of the 2 domains were 0.917?0.960 sepatately.The Pearson correlation coefficients between the total score of MSQA and the 2 somains were 0.880?0.950(P<0.05)separately.The Pearson correlation coefficients among the dimension scores and the 2 domains were 0.852?0.971(P<0.05).The Pearson correlation coefficients among the dimensions scores and individual questionnaire were 0.614?0.877(P<0.05).The reliability and validity of PSQIThe split-half reliability of PSQI is 0.862,Cronbach's a coefficient is 0.751.Factor analysis produced five components which explained 61.09%of total variance.Most items have a higher factor loading in one of the five factors,while relatively lower in other factors.Sub-health detection rate of Tianjin middle school studentsThe rate of physical,psychological and psychosomatic sub-health symptoms detection rate of Tianjin middle school students were 39.32%?41.34%?51.41%.The rate of physical,psychological and psychosomatic sub-health status detection rate were 19.85%,16.26%,16.60%,the results were higher than average.Boys got higher sub-health symptoms detection rate than girls,and the difference was statistically significant.The psychological sub-health status rate of rural students was higher than urban students,the difference was statistically significant.Senior high school students had higher detection rate than junior high school students,the difference was statistically significant.Senior year group had the highest sub-health detection rate.The binary logistic regression model demonstrate that senior high school stage,dissatisfaction with learning conditions,passive smoking,irregular breakfast,malnutrition,Internet addiction disorder,negative events experience were risk factors for middle school students' health status.Physical exercise(or entertainment)and good grades were protective factors for middle school students' health status.Except for Internet addiction,environmental contamination and dissatisfaction with learning conditions had larger influence impact among all the factors for junior high school students.Malnutrition and negative events experience had larger influence impact among all the factors for senior high school students.Internet addiction disorder and negative events experience had stronger connection with middle school students.Conclusion:MSQA has good reliability and validity,and is suitable for sub-health evaluation among Tianjin middle school students.PSQI has good reliability and validity,and is a simple,effective sleep quality measurement tool.Sub-health detection rate of Tianjin middle school students was higher than average.The three types of sub-health rates of senior high school students were higher than junior high school students.The sub-health detection rate of senior year students was higher than all the other students.The physiological sub-health rate of rural students was higher than urban students.Sub-health is a result of multiple factors.Negative experience and Internet addiction disorder are the most significant affecting factors for sub-health.Further research is expected.Measures should be taken by family,school and society to improve middle school students' health.
