Gold nanoclusters(AuNCs), composed of a few to a hundred atoms, their sizes are comparable to the Fermi wavelength of electons, resulting in molecule-like properties including discrete electronic ststes and size-dependent fluorescence. They have perfect application perspectives in nonatechnology field for their ultrasmall size, good biocompatibility and excellent photostability and so on. In this dissertation, water soluble Au NCs have been synthesized using Murexide(Mu) as Reducing agents and protective agents. Some novel fluorescence sensors have been designed by means of exploring the correlations between fluorescence signal of Au NCs with biomolecules as well as inorganic ions, and the sensing mechanisms and applications have been studied further. There are the main points of this thesis as follows:1. A successful synthesis of Au NCs with Murexide as the Reducing agents and protective agents.the morphological characterizations of Au NCs were characterized by fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM), atomic force microscope(AFM, X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy. Au NCs with a smaller particle size(1-2 nm).2.The luminescence of Mu-Au NCs quenched when spermin added in Mu-Au NC, Bearing this in mind, herein we presented a novel Mu-Au NC fluorescent sensor for spermin determination. This fluorescent sensor possessed wide linear range(3 n M-300 μM) and high sensitivity(LOD was 1 n M).3.In this study, a fluorescence sensor for successive detection of Fe 3+, and Hg 2+ ions simultaneously, the masking of PPI for Fe 3+ leads to the enhancement of fluorescence of Au NCs, this assay was applied to the successful detection of Fe 3+, and Hg 2+ in real sample, a good linear relationship was found between these metal ions and the degree of quenched fluorescent intensity. The dynamic ranges of Hg 2+and Fe 3+ were 10 n M-10 u M, 100 n M-100 u.
