Objective: To investigate the relationships between the Metabolic Equivalents in treadmill exercise testing and the coronarography Syntax score. Methods: 383 patients suspected with coronary heart disease, diagnosed by coronary angiography(CAG),were done with treadmill exercise testing(TET),including 201 males and 182 females. To compare the differences in metabolic equivalent level between the coronary heart disease(CHD) group and the non CHD group, and also the correlation between the metabolic equivalent and the Syntax score were investigated separately according to the male and the female subgroup. Results:Logistic regression analysis showed that gender, age, history of diabetes and metabolic equivalent were risk factors for CHD. The regression equation was logitp=-1.133+1.331*gender-0.046*age +0.497*history +0.082* metabolic equivalent.2.the metabolic equivalent had a linear correlation with the indicators of age and the body mass index(r=-0.118,P=0.000).3.the linear correlation also exist between the metabolic equivalent and the Duke score(r=-0.863,P=0.000).4.while between the metabolic equivalent and the heart rate recovery, the linear correlation didn't exist(r=-0.043, P=0.759).5.There was significant different between the CHD group and the non CHD group, The metabolic equivalent level in CHD group was lower than the non CHD group(P=0.010).6.In the crowd of people whose metabolic equivalent are less than 8MET,The Syntax score in CHD group was higner than the non CHD group(P=0.010).7. According to the metabolic equivalent level by quartile method, the CHD patients were divided into four group.Define the metabolic equivalent between 0~6.0,6.0~8.0,8.0~9.0, excess of 9 as Q1'group, Q2'group, Q3'group, Q4'group.The average coronary Syntax score from Q'1 to Q'4 are45.25±16.67,32.24±9.45,25.42±6.19,15.33±2.40.Different metabolic equivalent groups had different coronary Syntax score(P=0.000).8.From the correlation analysis of metabolic equivalent with coronary Syntax score,we can conclude that in the male group, the metabolic equivalent had a linear correlation with the coronary Syntax score(r=-0.275,P=0.004?0.05),while in the female group this feature didn't obvious.(r=-0.154,P=0.701 > 0.05)Conclusion:1.The CHD patients has a lower metabolic equivalent level than the non CHD patients. Metabolic equivalent may be a useful predictor for the diagnosis of CHD. 2. Compared with women, man's metabolic equivalent makes more sense to the coronary Syntax score.
