Projective The aim of the present study is to investigate the expression and distribution of estrogen receptor 1 in the tissue of prostate cancer and benign prostate hyperplasia. The correlation test between the expression and distribution of estrogen receptor 1 in prostate cancer and the clinical data from the patients was also conducted. Methods The method of immunohistochemical was conducted to detect the expression and distribution of estrogen receptor 1 in 25 cases of adenocarcinoma of prostate carcinoma tissues and 10 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia tissues from southeast university affiliated zhongda hospital. The clinical data from the patients were also analyzed, including ages, body mass index, pathological stage, levels of serum PSA, Gleason grades. Results ESR1 in benign prostatic hyperplasia tissues presented lower expression, but expressed in prostate cancer tissue increasing significantly, and there were significant differences between them (?2=6.62, P=0.001). ESR1 is mainly expressed in the stromal compartment. There was no obvious correlation between the strength of positive expression and ages (rs=-0.29, P=0.15), BMI (rs=0.13, P=0.13), PSA (rs=0.16, P=0.45), pathological staging (rs=0.23, P=0.28) and Gleason grade (rs=0.05, P=0.82).Conclusions 1 ESR1 in benign prostatic hyperplasia tissues presented lower expression, but expressed in prostate cancer tissue increasing significantly, and its expression has significant difference.2 ESR1 is mainly expressed in prostate stromal cells.3 There was no obvious correlation between the strength of positive expression and ages, BMI, PSA, pathological staging and Gleason grade.
