Apelin-13 Improves Learning And Memory Impairment And Depression Like Behavior In Rats Induced By Chronic Social Stress

[Background] Social defeat stress can also be called a living-invasion experiment. Depression is a manifestation of persistent low mood as the main clinical manifestations of the disease, currently about 14% of the patients suffering from depression. The depression of neuropathy and its prevention has important significance of.Apelin receptor belongs to the G protein coupled receptor(G-protein-couple receptor GPCR) family members, the experimental results show that Apelin has antidepressant, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine system and so on. The laboratory before the period that Apelin-13 in a variety of models of depression in chronic unpredictable mild stress, forced swimming stress, chronic restraint stress antidepressant effect. This experiment is to study whether by microinjection of Apelin-13 into the lateral ventricle in patients with chronic social defeat stress(c Social defeat stress CSDS, hronic) induced learning and memory impairment and depression like behavior in rats.[Methods] the chronic social defeat stress model, the stress rats for 10 consecutive days of social defeat stress, stress after intracerebroventricular catheter by intracerebroventricular injection of Apelin-13 or saline, administered for 7 days. Is divided into non stress saline group(Non stressed Saline group), saline group(CSDS stress Saline group), Apelin-13 group(CSDS Apelin-13 stress group) and group Apelin-13(Non stressed Apelin-13 stress group). The last 24 h after the last injection of behavior detection, were detected for 7 days, according to the time sequence were spontaneous activity test, Y maze the novel object recognition test, tail suspension test, forced swimming test and social interaction experiment(social interaction test).[Results] chronic social defeat stress can significantly reduce the rat in the interaction time.Apelin-13 can improve the CSDs induced rat right alternating rate is declining and identification index decreased.Apelin-13 can improve the CSDs induced rat tail suspension increased duration of immobility, immobility time increase and social interaction experiments in rat social avoidance behavior.[Conclusion] Apelin-13 could improve the learning and memory impairment and depression like behavior of rats induced by chronic social stress.
