Objectives To explore the applications of MRI in patients with anorectal malfomations by analyzing the MRI images before and after surgery of ARM patients, try to find the linical value and improve the use method of MRI examination,Methods 1) MRI images of children with ARM from July 2010 to March2015 was collected and anlyzed, trying to analyze and find the incidence rate of the tethered cord syndrome(TCS) and urinary tract malformations in patients with anorectal malformations. 2) To explore the accuracy of MRI examination in determining the preoperative examinations of ARM patients by comparing with the ultrasound examination result. 3) Try to explore the coorrelationship between anorectal angle determined by MRI and postoperative defecation function by calculating the anorectal angle. Results 1) The incidence rate of TCS and urinary tract malformations in children with anorectal malformations are 12.6% 11% respectively and this incidence rates show no specific relations with the type of ARM. 2)Compared with the ultrasound examination, MRI has a more accuracy in determining the position of the rectum pouch in children with perineal andvestibular fistular. 3) Postoperative MRI examination showed that the postoperative anorectal angle was greater in fair than in good(P < 0.05).And it has specific relations with sacrococcyx development.(P < 0.05)Conclusions 1).The patients with ARM has a high associated anomalies such as TCS and urinary tract malformation, so MRI examination should be performed as a routine examination before operation in order to find the associated anomalies in time. 2). MRI examination can more accurately show the position of rectum pouch in children with perineal and vestibular fistular.3).There were certain relationships with postoperative anorectal angle and postoperative defication; Postoperative anorectal angle can be measured for the evaluation of postoperative defication function.
