| With the advancement of medical science and technology, clinical practice is faced with many challenges. How to fulfill No Harm principle in clinical practice has become an important subject in medical ethics. This thesis focuses on the theoretical value and practical significance of No Harm principle, exploring its evolution and essence. Based on the analysis of the practical dilemma of this principle in clinical practice, this thesis summarizes the ways to realize the principle. There are five parts in this thesis.The first part elaborates the origin of this study, as well as research status and research methods in Chinese and foreign academic circles. This thesis points out the urgency of applying No Harm principle in clinical practice, makes a review over the relevant researches in China, and analyzes domestic and foreign research achievements and the deficiencies. By adopting the methods of literature research, dialectical analysis and logic analysis, the thesis conducts a comprehensive in-depth study on the application of No Harm principle in clinical practice.The second part analyzes the theoretical value and practical significance of No Harm principle. This thesis defines the concept and basic connotation of the principle. Based on the analysis of the connotation of No Harm principle in modern medical practice, this thesis summarizes the characteristics of No Harm principle: the specificity of subject, the diversity of object and the universality of content. This thesis analyzes and argues the theoretical and practical value of No Harm principle from two aspects.The third part discusses the origin and essence of No Harm principle in medical ethics, combing its coming into being and historical development in medical field of China and western countries, and analyzing the contribution of the principle to the development of medical ethics. The nature of the principle lies in that it is the product of practice of diagnosis and treatment, which is a relative concept in clinical practice. The judgment standard changes with the progress of medical techniques, which embodies the medical personnel’s professional values and service notion.The forth part discusses the practical difficulties of No Harm principle in clinical practice. This thesis expounds the necessity and possibility of realizing the principle in modern clinical practice. The difficulties of conducting the principle in clinical practice mainly include “double choice” that the medical staff are confronted with in diagnosis and treatment, “double effect” of clinical diagnosis and treatment, and paradox of “double effect” in this process.The fifth part explores the ways to realize No Harm principle in clinical practice. This thesis proposes to establish the medical values that life comes the first in diagnosis and treatment and the concept of “taking patients as the center”, to regulate the behavior in diagnosis and treatment to avoid and reduce the incidence of injury caused by medical treatment. It is also calls for the improvement of level of diagnosis and treatment and service quality, and the establishment and development of a harmonious relationship between doctors and patients, especially in fulfilling the informing obligation of informed consent to avoid excessive medical treatment and so on. |
