Efficacy Of Gufoni Maneuver On Treatment Of Geotropic Nystagmus Lateral Canal Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo: A Systematic Review

Objective.To evaluate the efficacy of gufoni maneuver on treatment of geotropic nystagmus lateral canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and to provide evidence-based medicine evidence for gufoni maneuver.Methods.The selection was based on the evidence-based requirements,WanFang Data,MEDLINE,PubMed,CNKI EMBASE,Ovid,CBM,VIP,Cochrane library(searched for randomized controlled trials from inception to October 2015),According to established inclusion and exclusion criteria,select randomized controlled studies involving Gufoni maneuver for data extraction and analysis.By two independent investigators to research the type of treatment,treatment efficiency,duration of treatment and other systematic retrospective analysis.Results.A total of 389 patients from 3 RCT studies were included for the analysis.2 of these 3 studies were considered to have a high level of validity and the Jadad scale score of 5 points,The third study did not properly report the treatment allocation and blinding,moreover,outcome data were incomplete,the Jadad scale score of 3 points.One of the research to compare the Gufoni maneuver and sham maneuver,Gufoni maneuver significantly better than the sham maneuver,the other two articles in the literature,compare the Gufoni maneuver and Barbecue maneuver or Forced prolonged position(FPP),Gufoni maneuver no significant statistical differences the other two maneuvers.Conclusion: Given the variety in the comparative treatments and follow-up duration,all 3 studies showed that the Gufoni maneuver was effective for geotropic nystagmus HC-BPPV.However there were insufficient data to establish the relative efficacy of the Gufoni maneuver compared with other maneuvers.
