ObjectiveBased on PSG to evaluate the clinical effect and advantage of BL18 Dragon Tiger fighting acupuncture technique in treating sub-health insomnia.MethodsThis was a randomized controlled trial,70 patients suffered sub-health insomnia were randomly assigned into the treatment goupr(34 participants) and control groups (36 participants). Treatment group was treated by BL18 Dragon Tiger fighting acupuncture technique and routine acupuncture, while the control group was treated with routine acupuncture alone. A course of treatment included ten times’session, one time each day, two courses of treatment in total. Participants’sleep status was evaluated with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) and polysomnography (PSG). The statistic analysis was perfomed with SPSS 17.0.Results1. Curative effect comparison:The total effective rate of the treatment group was 96.97%, while the control group was 91.18%. The difference of cure rate between two groups was statistically significant (p< 0.05).2. Score of PSQI:2.1 Comparison within two groups:Comparing the two groups after treatment and 1 month follow-up,there were statistical differences (p< 0.01) in sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, habitual sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, daytime dysfunction and global scoring.2.2 Comparison between two groups:Compared with the control group, the difference of improved scores of the treatment group after treatment in sleep quality, sleep time, daytime dysfunction and total score were statistically significant (p< 0.01), and the difference of improved score in sleep latency was statistically significant (p< 0.05).Compared with the control group, the difference of improved scores of the treatment group 1 month follow-up in sleep quality, sleep efficiency, global scoring were statistically significant (p< 0.01), and the difference of improved score in sleep latency, sleep duration, daytime dysfunction were statistically significant (p< 0.05).2.3 The advantage of BL18 Dragon Tiger fighting acupuncture:The difference in the number of recovered people between two groups was significant(p< 0.01); In terms of improved scores of sleep latency, sleep duration, daytime dysfunction and total score, sleep quality and sleep efficiency, the statistical significance existed between two groups(p< 0.05).3. PSG:3.1 Comparison within two groupsrAfter treatment, sleep latency, total sleep time, sleep efficiency, wake after sleep onset had statistical significance (p< 0.01), while the comparison of the REM latency, N2 sleep time existed statistical difference (p< 0.05). Comparing the control group after treatment, there were statistical differences (p< 0.01) in sleep latency and sleep efficiency, while on REM latency, total sleep time, wake after sleep onset and N2 sleep time had statistical differences (p< 0.05).3.2 Comparison between two groups:Comparison between treatment group and the control group, the improved score in sleep latency had statistical difference (p< 0.05).3.3 The advantage of BL18 Dragon Tiger fighting acupuncture:In the treatment group, compared with the number of recovered people in control group, the improved score of the sleep latency, sleep efficiency, wake after sleep onset, N3 sleep time, times of awakenings and arousal index had statistical differences(p< 0.01) and the improved score of REM phase, N1 sleep time had statistical differences (p< 0.05).Conclusion1.Acupuncture was effective in treating sub-health insomnia, and the curative effect can be continued until 1 month after the treatment. BL18 Dragon Tiger fighting acupuncture could significantly improve the cure rate.2. BL18 Dragon Tiger fighting acupuncture could significantly shorten sleep latency, increasing sleep time, improving daytime function. The curative effect was better than that in control group; The recovered people had a good continuity of sleep while the sleep depth was increased slightly.
