The Situation Of Breastfeeding Cognitive And Self-efficacy Among Primiparas

Objective: To survey the status on breastfeeding cognition and self-efficacy for primiparas,analysis the influence factors of primiparas’ breastfeeding cognition and self-efficacy after three days, and to explore primiparas of cognition and breastfeeding self-efficacy correlation,in order to improve breastfeeding for clinical nursing staff health education and according to the actual circumstance of primiparas provide theory evidence for targeted nursing intervention,so as to promote breastfeeding rates increase.Methods: From February 2015 to July, adopt the method of convenience sampling to select 380 primiparas from four hospital in Jinan, and questionnaire survey was conducted on the third day after delivery. Using the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale-Short to measured primiparas’ breastfeeding self-efficacy; the breastfeeding knowledge questionnaire to evaluate primiparas’ breastfeeding cognitive situation and the impact on self-efficacy; Application of the basis data questionnaire analysis primipara personal data and on the influence of the cognitive and primipara breastfeeding self-efficacy.Results:(1)The average scores of breastfeeding knowledge in the survey of 380 primiparas from hospitals in Jinan was (11.83 ± 2.66) . The influcing factors of breastfeeding cognitive were: primiparas’ diploma, monthly average revenue of a family, working in the antepartum or not,live with husband in the perinatal period or not, breastfeeding attitudes of husband.(2)The average scores of breastfeeding self-efficacy of primiparas on the third day after delivery was (110.46 ± 18.33) , their skills dimension scored (51.51±9.79) , and inner activity dimension scored ( 58.95 ± 9.39 ) .(3)Related analysis results of primipara breastfeeding cognitive and self-efficacy showed that breastfeeding cognitive and the inner activity dimension have a liner correlation, it’s positive correlation(r=0.121,P < 0.05).(4)The best-fit regression modle revealed three variables that explained 26.2% of the variance in Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale scores at three days postpartum: feeding way, prenatal work,breastfeeding cognition, husband’s attitude toward breastfeeding and live with husband in the perinatal period or not.(5)By three days postpartum, 46.8 percent were breastfeeding exclusively in Jinan.Conclusions:The level of primiparas’ breastfeeding cognitive and self-efficacy is not satisfaction. Inner activity dimensions of primiparas’breastfeeding self-efficacy were associated with cognition. The important influence factor for primiparas’ breastfeeding self-efficacy at three days after delivery is the way of breastfeeding in Jinan.
