| Purpose:To analyze the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatments of women with abdominal wall endometriosis(AWE)in order to identify the effective diagnostic methods, the optimal treatment and prevention techniques for AWE.Methods:In a retrospective study, women diagnosed with AWE at the Women’s Hospital of Zhejiang University, between January 2013 and December 2015 were identified from the hospital’s medical records. Results:During the study period,180 patients had undergone previous surgery,178 cases were secondary to cesarean section. The latent period between previous surgery and onset of symptoms was 1 month to 24 years. In patients aged<35 years, the latent period was shorter than those aged>35 years(P<0.05).175 cases received surgical treatment, and 70 cases were located in subcutaneous,36 cases were located in rectus sheath,57 cases were located in rectus,2 cases were located in deep fascia, while 10 cases were located in peritoneal. The infiltration depth of Lesions and the length of the course of the disease have no obvious relation(P>0.05).Histo-pathologic confirmation was obtained for 173 women. Conclusions:AWE could be diagnosed prior to operation according to its typical clinical manifestations and signs.Ultrasonic examination, magnetic resonance imaging et al may be valuable for the diagnosis of atypical cases.Complete resection is the primary treatment for AWE.Reducing cesarean section rate, protecting abdominal incision in surgery et al are helpful to reduce the incidence of AWE. |
