A Case Report Of Fibula Osteotomy For Medial Compartment Osteoarthritis Of The Knee

Knee osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative diseases common in the elderly,and the medial compartment is the most common type in clinical practice,the main clinical manifestations is medial pain of knee joint,and with different degrees of functional limitations,terminal stages mostly go into varus deformity,which seriously impact on the patient’s quality of life.As the traditional interventions,although high tibial osteotomy can effectively correct the varus,delay the course of the disease,to a certain extent,but it has strictly surgical indications,and destroys the normal joint structure at the same time,which is not conducive to long-term replacement.However,as the final treatment for osteoarthritis,total knee arthroplasty not only takes a high truama and cost,but also has to face the risk of infection or renovation.And there are still a number of patients who are suffering the unexplained pain which has not been conquered by medical workers.In recent years,Chinese scholars put forward with fibula osteotomy treating the medial compartment knee osteoarthritis,although its mechanism is controversial,the clinical curative effect was recognized by the majority of doctors.This article is going to give a case report of 3 patients who had adopted fibula osteotomy to treat medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee from Dalian Medical University,.Case one shows a patients with early metaphase,the second one is about a middle-late,in the third case,come with an advanced patient,aiming at the possible action mechanism which are summarized,and evaluate the operation’s early curative effect in patients with different stages.
