A Clinical Study On The Effect Of TEAS On Methamphetamine Protracted Withdrawal Symptom

ObjectiveThe project is trying to explore the clinical effect and safety of transcutaneous electric acupoint stimulations(TEAS)on methamphetamine(MA)protracted withdrawal symptoms.And we are trying to figure out the possibility of TEAS inducing patients' VAS for MA,in order to provide clinical support for acupuncture applying to drug treatment.MethodsSixty male MA patients meeting the study standards were picked up from different group of compulsory isolated detoxification center of Fuzhou.They were randomly assigned to study group and the control group,each group concludes 30 patients.The treatment group accepted TEAS on the four acupoints:neiguan(PC6),shenmen(HT7),zusanli(ST36)and sanyinjiao(SP6),and the control group accepted mock TEAS on the same acupoints with treatment group's.All subjects assessed with Withdrawal Symptom scale,Visual Analogue Scale and tests of the level of dopamine(DA)in the serum.All data were processed with SPSS 19.0 statistic software.Results(1)The withdrawal symptom score:there were no statistic differences(P>0.05)before the treatment which means that these two groups can be compared.The score of treatment group decreased compared with before treatment and it had significant difference(P<0.05).Compared with before treatment,control group were insignificant differences.There were statistic differences between two groups after treatment.(2)The VAS:there were no significant differences(P>0.05)between the two groups before treatment.The score of treatment group decreased compared with before treatment and it had statistic difference(P<0.05).The score of control group decreased than before while the it has no statistical significance.The result compared between two groups exhibited significant difference(P<0.05).(3)DA in serum:There were no significant differences between two groups before treatment.The score of treatment group increased compared with before treatment and it had significant difference(P<0.05).Compared with before treat:ment,control group were insignificant differences.The difference between the two groups after treatment was significant.Conclusion(1)TEAS could relieve the methamphetamine protracted withdrawal symptoms.(2)TEAS has certain effect on inducing longing for methamphetamine.(3)TEAS can improve the level of dopamine in serum of MA addicts.(4)TEAS therapy has certain help to drug rehabilitation treatment as it can reduce their physical symptoms and mental status.TEAS worths further research and promotion in the drug rehabilitation treatment because of its noninvasive,economic security and the characteristics of easy operation.
