Objective(1)To assess the status and influencing factors of illness perception in patients with ischemic stroke.(2)To learn the impact of health education based on self-regulation theory on illness perception in patients with ischemic stroke.(3)To evaluate the effect of self-regulation theory guided health education on lifestyle in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods The first part of the paper is a descriptive study, adopt the method of facilitating sampling,by reference to inclusion and excluding criteria, the illness perception status of 215 patients with ischemic stroke in one hospital in Hefei from September 2015 to July 2016 were selected, and the influencing factors of illness perception were analyzed. The second part of the paper is a quasi-experimental study:the patients diagnosed as ischemic stroke in one hospital in Hefei were the research samples. The patients were divided into intervention group and control group by admission time. The patients who were diagnosed from January 2016 to March 2016 as control group received routine health education at discharge, while the patients who were diagnosed from April 2016 to July 2016 as intervention group received intervention based on self-regulation theory.12 weeks after intervention, those patients, illness perception and lifestyle were compared to analysis the effect of health education based on self-regulation theory. Results Stage 1:(1)The score of identity dimension in patients with ischemic stroke was 2.74±2.23,the score of consequences dimension was 17.59±4.91,the score ofemotional representations dimension was 19.46±6.43.The patients with ischemic stroke have a negative illness perception.(2)The multiple linear regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of illness perception were the age, gender, home address, occupation, and NIHSS score(P<0.05);Stage 2:(1)The level of illness perception in the intervention group were improved noticeably after intervention and higher than the control group(P<0.05).(2)After intervention the scores of lifestyle in the intervention group were noticeably better than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions(1)Patients with ischemic stroke have a negative illness perception, the main influencing factors of illness perception is following by the age, gender, home address, occupation, and NIHSS score.Medical staff should improve it by take targeted interventions according to the main influencing factors.(2)Intervention based on self-regulation theory can transform patient's illness perception of disease and lifestyle of patients with ischemic stroke.
