The Clinical Study Of The LNG-IUS In Treating Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine system(LNG-IUS)treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding,provide reference for clinical application.METHODS The clinical data of patients with heavy menstrual bleeding and anemia were collected by gynecological clinic of Yanbian University hospital during Jun 2011 to Dec 2015,and choose 30 cases with complete data from the clinical data,which place the LNG-IUS and complete the 12 month follow-up as the object of study.The age of the patients ranged from 29 to 48 years,with an average age of(41.1+4.10)years old.The changes of menstrual blood loss,hemoglobin level and endometrial thickness before and after LNG-IUS were observed at 1,3,6 and 12 months.The satisfaction of LNG-IUS and the adverse reactions were investigated by questionnaire or telephone follow-up.RESULTS 1.The menstrual blood loss was significantly decreased compared with before treatament after using LNG-IUS,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.The hemoglobin level was significantly increased after using LNG-IUS,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Endometrial thickness was significantly thinner than before treatment in the use of LNG-IUS,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Adverse reactions:There were 11 patients showed a small amount of irregular vaginal bleeding.There were 5 patients were diagnosed with hypomenorrhea and 2 patients with amenorrhea.One of their LNG-IUS was shift down,and 1 patient with ovarian dropsy.5.Satisfaction evaluation:Overall satisfaction and continued utilization were high.The main causes of dissatisfaction were irregular vaginal bleeding and LNG-IUS position shift.CONCLUSION The levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine system could effectively reduce the amount of menstrual blood loss and improve the level of hemoglobin.It improved anemia in a short time,which had less side effects.It is a safe and effective method for the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding.
