Objective : To study the correlation of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)mutation with brain metastases(BM)in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods: We collected data of 389 NSCLC patients with EGFR mutation status detected in pathology department at the first affiliated hospital of Wan Nan Medical College from December 2013 to August 2016.220 NSCLC patients were enrolled in this study,we retrospectively analyzed the correlation of EGFR mutation with BM in NSCLC,amplification refractory mutation system(ARMS)was used to detect EGFR mutation status. Results: Of 389 NSCLC patients,51(13.11%)were diagnosed with BM,patients that harbored 19 exon mutation(23.65%)and 21 exon mutation(13.11%)were the most common, the incidence of EGFR common mutation in patients harboring mutation was 91.05%.Among 220 NSCLC patients enrolled in this study,The incidence of BM was 23.18%,EGFR mutation often occured in female patients(p<0.0001)and lung adenocarcinom patients(p<0.0001),and had no relationship with age of patients(p=0.8933)and source of specimens(p=0.2755).the incidence of BM had no statistically significant difference in patients harboring mutation and those with wild-type EGFR(p=0.6316),the incidence of patients with BM harboring 19 del was similar to that of L858R(p=1.0000).Conclusion: The incidence of BM in NSCLC patients harboring mutation and those with wild-type EGFR showed no significant correlation.the incidence of BM in NSCLC patients harboring common mutation 19 del and those with common mutation L858 R showed no significant correlation. The incidence of BM in NSCLC patients was 23.18%(51/220).
