ObjectiveThis experiment make a preliminary study on the hemodynamics and the perfusion of heart and brain of two way of ECMO to provide reference for clinical practice by computational fluid dynamics.MethodsBased on the original DICOM image data obtained by CT scan, reconstruct the aortic model by software Mimics(Materialise,Inc.,Leuven,Belgium).The reconstructed aortic model was imported into ICEM(Ansys,Inc.)and divided into the inlet, outlet and wall of the blood vessel by surface segmentation. Then the central and peripheral configuration were established and the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)was used to compare the intra-aortic hemodynamic differences.RESULTS1.Flow field analysis showed that a low pressure zone formed because of the high velocity blood flow at the exit of the cannula, and it is harmful to the blood perfusion near the outlet of the cannula.2.The results of flow distribution showed that the flow of coronary artery and the common carotid artery in peripheral ECMO is higher than that in central ECMO.Conclusion1.Based on the aortic CT data,an anatomically accurate three-dimensional aortic model can be reconstructed, and computer numerical simulation is an effective method for the study of hemodynamic differences of ECMO assisted circulation.2.Flow of vital organs, such as the heart and brain,in peripheral ECMO is better than that in central ECMO.
