BACKGROUND : Cirrhosis will cause the portal vein pressure.Portal hypertension is one of the major causes of complications of cirrhosis,The hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG)is the most reliable gold standard for predicting the progression of portal hypertension in cirrhosis. Now,there is more and more research about HVPG.OBJECTIVE: By reviewing the current study of hepatic venous pressure gradient in patients with cirrhosis, physicians can apply it to clinical and guide clinical treatment.METHODS:In “hepatic venous pressure gradient, portal hypertension, liver cirrhosis, variceal hemorrhage, ascites, liver cancer”and other keyword search to find out the literature on the study of hepatic venous pressure gradient in patients with liver cirrhosis, and make a summary of it.CONCLUSION: There are a large number of literatures on hepatic venous pressure gradient in patients with liver cirrhosis. The results of these studies suggest that hepatic venous pressure gradient can be used to help assess the risk of cirrhosis patients,to guide clinical treatment,to evaluate drug efficacy,to predict the progress and treatment of cirrhosis.Hepatic venous pressure gradient plays an important role in the clinical use of cirrhosis patients.
