Objective: To test the influence of APOE and ABCB1 polymorphisms on the lipid-lowering response to Atorvastatin in Chinese coronary heart disease patients. Methods: The data from coronary heart disease patients genotyped APOE,ABCB1 G2677T/A(rs2032582),ABCB1 C3435T(rs1045642)gene and treated with atorvastatin 20mg/d for 4 weeks was assessed from December 2014 to July 2016 in this observational study.Patients were assigned to wild type group and variant group according to APOE and ABCB1 genotype. We assessed baseline and change of TG,TC,LDL-C,HDL-C level between wild type group and variant group. Results: Carrier of APOE ε4 had a significantly higher basal LDL-C level than ε3/ε3 and ε2 carriers(P=0.008).The TC level after atorvastatin therapy is higher in carrier of APOE ε4(P=0.012).There was no significantly association between APOE genotype and change of TG,TC,LDL-C,HDL-C level.ABCB1 G2677T/A and ABCB1 C3435 T polymorphism was not associated with baseline and change of TG,TC,LDL-C,HDL-C level(P>0.05).Conclusions: APOE ε4 was significantly associated with elevated baseline LDL-C level.APOE genotype was not associated with lipid changes after atorvastatin therapy.Variant in ABCB1 G2677T/A and ABCB1 C3435 T was not associated with basal lipid level the lipid lowering effect of atorvastatin.
