Objective:The serum cytokine,HIS and 5-HT levels in patients with jellyfish sting were measured to explore the pathogenesis,and to evaluate the prognosis and guide the treatment.Methods:A single-center prospective analysis were involved into a total of 52 patients with standard jellyfish sting(male 29,female 23)as the test group in the Beidaihe Hospital from July 2015 to August 2016,28 healthy workers in the hospital were taken as normal control group.The clinical data including gender,age,sting position and area.The levels of serum tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),histamine(HIS)and 5-hydroxy tryptamine(5-HT)were measured by ELISA.Inclusion criteria:patients with jellyfish sting diagnosis;patients stay in or hospitalized;aged 14 to 80.Exclusion criteria:the history of exposure to other marine life;other causes of skin lesions;complicated with drowning;with respiratory.cardiovascular,liver,kidney,blood and other serious primary disease patients;onset to admission more than 2 days;patients with drugs that affect immune function before admission(such as glucocorticoid);patients with drug allergy;pregnant or lactating patients;patients with incomplete clinical data or giving up treatment.The patients were divided into mild,moderate and severe sting groups according to the severity classification of jellyfish sting patients developed by Chinese Toxicological Society of Toxicology and Treatment Committee and Emergency Medical Branch of Hebei Medical Association.The levels of serum TNF-α,IL-6,HIS,5-HT and other indicators in each group were analyzed by the SPSS21.0 software.Results:1 There were no significant differences with gender,age,and other aspects of patients in each group(P>0.05).2 Compared with the normal control group,the levels of serum TNF-α,IL-6,HIS and 5-HT were significantly increased in the experimental group with jellyfish sting,with statistical significance(P<0.05);Compared with the mild group,the levels of serum TNF-a,IL-6,HIS and 5-HT were significantly increased in the moderate and severe group,with statistical significance(P<0.05);Compared with the moderate group,the levels of serum TNF-α,IL-6,HIS and 5-HT were significantly increased in the severe group,with statistical significance(P<0.05);but there were no significant differences between the mild group and the control group(P>0.05).3 There was no significant difference with serum myocardial enzyme between the moderate group and the mild group(P>0.05).Compared with the mild and moderate group,the level of serum myocardial enzyme was significantly increased in the severe group,with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusions:1 TNF-α,IL-6,HIS and 5-HT may be involved in the occurrence and progress of patients with jellyfish sting,it is showed that the higher the levels of serum TNF-α,IL-6,HIS and 5-HT,the severer degree of jellyfish sting.2 It may have some clinical value to monitor the levels of serum TNF-α,IL-6,HIS and 5-HT in observing the condition change and evaluating its prognosis,it provides an important theoretical basis for the treatment of jellyfish sting and the improvement of prognosis.3 Jellyfish sting can cause changes in myocardial enzyme,and the more significant myocardial enzyme increased,the more serious the situation,it may be helpful to take protective measures early.
