Applied Research Of The Mean Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) Using Diffusion-weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DWI) 3.0 T With Values Of 6b On CE

Objective: This study aimed to classify different types of Cystic echinococcosis(CE)by measuring the mean apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)using diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging(DWI)with values of 6b,and selected the best b value through the analysis of image quality.Methods: There were 113 lesions and 54 patients with CE diagnosed from August 2015 to December 2016.For all patients,SE?FFE and DWI images with values of 6b(80?300?500?800?1200?2000 s/mm2)were applied using a 3.0 Tesla Magnetom Sym-phony.ADC values were also measured and statistical analysis in our study.Results: 1.There were 113 lesions in this research,which bearing the mean maximum diameter of 8.76±4.13 cm(rang 2.04-26.71 cm).The ratio of non-liver group to liver group was 40 to 73,no statistically significant difference was observed between the types in respect of the mean maximum diameter and the mean ADC values(p > 0.05).2.The mean ADC values: with increasing of b value,the mean ADC values of CE lesions were decreased gradually.The best b value was 800 s/mm2.3.The types of CE: simple cyst in 32 cases,multiple daughter cyst in 32 cases,ruptured cyst in 10 cases,consolidated and calcified cyst in 33 cases and mixed cyst in 6 cases.? A statistically significant difference was determined between the following groups in respect of mean ADC values(p < 0.05).Both simple cyst and multiple daughter cyst(daughter)could be statistically separated from multiple daughter cyst(mother)and consolidated and calcified cyst(p < 0.05).A statistically significant difference was determined between multiple daughter cyst(mother)and consolidated and calcified cyst(p < 0.05).There was no different from between ruptured cyst and other cysts(p > 0.05).?There was no statistically significant difference between the multiple daughter cyst in mixed cyst and multiple daughter cyst(p > 0.05),as well as consolidated and calcified cyst in mixed cyst compare with consolidated and calcified cyst(p > 0.05).Conlusion:The results of this study have shown that DWI and the measurement of the ADC value can be useful in the diagnosis and classification of CE.In the five types of CE,the mean ADC values were decreasing with the change of lesion activity.As for simple cyst,the daughter in multiple daughter cyst,which bearing the high biological activities,the mean ADC values were high;while the mean ADC values of the mother in multiple daughter cyst,ruptured cyst and consolidated and calcified cyst decreased because of their low biological activities.For the transition stage(rupture type),the mean ADC values were overlapping with other types.
