Objective To investigate the risk factors of recurrence and metastasis in patients with advanced gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST).Methods We collected the clinical date of GIST patients had undergone surgery and confirmed by pathology, all the patients were treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from May 2011 to June 2015.We analyzed retrospectively the risk factors affecting the recurrence and metastasis of GIST.Result There were 108 cases in this group, including 47 males and 61 females. The age of patients ranged from 23 to 84,the median age was 58 years old.The most frequent locations are the stomach, the proportion up to 50.00%.The tumor size was between 2 cm and 30 cm,the median tumor size was 6.5 cm.The mitotic count was between 2 / HPF and 51 / HPF,the median number was 6 / HPF-10 / HPF.The 4-year cumulative recurrence and metastasis was 29.63%.Univariate analysis showed that tumor size, mitotic count, primary tumor location, use of imatinib treatment,Ki67 were related to the recurrence and metastasis of GIST(P<0.05).Multivariate analysis showed that tumor size, mitotic count, primary tumor location, use of imatinib treatment were the independent influencing factors. Conclusion Tumor size, mitotic count, primary tumor location were the independent influencing factors of GIST.Adjuvant imatinib therapy after surgery can reduced recurrence and metastasis rate.
