Purpose To investigate the short-term effects of smoking on regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF)in healthy adults.Methods41 healthy male volunteers(age range 22~55 years old, average age36.6±11.8 years old)were divided into two groups:21 volunteers with smoking habit were selected into smoking group,20 volunteers without smoking habit were selected into non-smoking group. All of them were performed with smoking test. Before and after test, measuring rCBF of occipital lobe, frontal lobe, temporal lobe's gray matter and halamus, basal ganglia with 3D-arterial spin labeling technology(3D-ASL).Results(1)rCBF of 41 volunteers had no significant difference(P>0.05)before and after smoking.(2)21 Smokers showed a lower rCBF than 20 non-smokers before smoking and rCBF in region of bilateral occipital lobe, temporal lobe, thalamus, left basal ganglia had a significant difference(P<0.05)?Conclusion To detect the short-term effect of smoking on gray matter rCBF in healthy adults based on 3D ASL technology,we found that though somking had no short-term impact on rCBF it can lead to rCBF's reduction in the long run.Purpose To investigate the short-term effects of drinking coffee on regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF)in healthy adults.Methods19 volunteers(age range 22~27 years old, average age 24.4±1.4 years old)were performed with drinking coffee test. Before and after test, measuring rCBF of occipital lobe, frontal lobe, temporal lobe's gray matter and halamus, basal ganglia with 3D-arterial spin labeling technology(3D-ASL).Results rCBF of 19 volunteers in region of bilateral occipital lobe, frontal lobe, temporal lobe gray matter and thalamus, basal ganglia showed a significant decrease(P<0.05)after drinking coffee. The decline rate were 14.5%(right)?16.5%(left)?11.6%(right)?11.7%(left)?17.6%(right)?15.7%(left)?14.0%(right)?14.3%(left)?14.4%(right)?15.4%(left),respectively.rCBF in the right temporal lobe had a significant change. Conclusion To detect the short-term effect of intaking coffee on gray matter rCBF in healthy adults based on 3D ASL technology,we found that drinking coffee can lead to a acute reduction in rCBF.
