Objective:To design a comprehensive,systematic,available and readable Health Education Handbook for Patients with Intracranial Aneurysm.It can improve the patients' compliance behavior and enhance effic iency of health education,provide more information to patients with intracranial aneurysm and their family members and let them adopt the healthier behavior,lower down the risk of intracranial aneurysm rapture or rehemorrhagia and decrease the prevalence of complication and improving quality of life.Besides,the Handbook can guide and regulate nurses' behaviors,which they can give better health education to the patient.Methods1.Designing self-rating questionnaire on knowledge,attitude and behavior before operation of intracranial aneurysm: documentary analysis,brainstorming method,consulting from experts and reference to other questionnaires on knowledge,attitude and behavior were used to design the self-rating questionnaire on knowledge,attitude and behavior before operation of intracranial aneurysm.And then,the reliability test and validity test were used to examine the questionnaire.2.Designing the content for health education handbook of intracranial aneurysm: semi-structural interview with patients and medical staff was adopted and information saturation princ iple was used.Finally,18 interviewers were determined.NVivo qualitative research software with Colaizzi method was used to code the interviewing material.Documentary analys is and interpretation for guide were used to design the content for health education handbook of intracranial aneurysm.3.Edit and design the Handbook: 5 medical staff and 5 patients from Neurosurgery of one 3A hospital were selected to evaluate the completeness,accuracy and practicality of the manual and put forward revision suggestion.The Handbook was revised according to the feedback and professional editor was asked to proofread and typeset to design the final Health Education Handbook for Patients with Intracranial Aneurysm.ResultSelf-rating questionnaire contained 4 dimensions and 17 questions: disease knowledge(4 questions),treatment knowledge(4 questions),emotion control(3 questions)and risk factors(6 questions).Content validity test of questionnaire showed that interater agreement was 0.823 and content validity index(CVI)was 0.823.Cronbach's ? coefficient was 0.810 and Split-half reliability was 0.799.Content of Health Education Handbook for Patients with Intracranial Aneurysm was derived from the qualified interviewing material code with documental analys is,including 8 primary directories and 19 second directories.Primary directories contained introduction of disease,risk for rupture,necessities and precautions for examination,treatment,precautions of before-and-after operation,medication guide,discharge instruction,and common questions from patients and their family members.ConclusionThis Health Education Handbook for Patients with Intracranial Aneurysm wins high evaluation from medical staff and patients,because its content is complete,accurate and practical.Patients filling in self-rating questionnaire on knowledge,attitude and behavior before operation of intracranial aneurysm can read the content,increase the patient's disease-related knowledge,form the attitude,change their behavior and improve compliance behavior and disease knowledge.And based on the Handbook,medical staff also can give systematic,targeted and individual health education to the patient.
