Objective: This experiment used of Ultrasonography and traditional X-ray in evaluation of new bone formation and blood supply in patiens treated by bone lengthing.By comparing the results of this two methods,find out the The value of ultrasonography.Methods: Select 10 cases of patients who need to treated by bone transport or bone lengthening as the experimental object.Use of ultrasonography and X-ray respectively in monitoring the stages of osteotomy?the stages of bone lengthening?and the stages of bone consolidation.In early stages of Bone lengthening,we need to mornitor the patients every 2 weeks.In latter stages of the bone lengthing we can adjust time interval according to the physical situation.The same period shows the advantages and disadvantages of ultrasound examination,and through the analysis of the results and take corresponding measures to the patient.According to the results of the blood circulation and the new callus formation at the osteotomy site with X-ray and ultrasonography,to compare the advantages and disadvantage between detective method.At the same time we need analysis the results and take appropriate measures.Results: X-ray is a radiological mornitoring method,it can damage the patient's health.Through this method can determine whether the osteotomy is successful.And it can accurately measure the length of gap of distraction.It also can observe the limb force line information,observe bone delayed healing?can not healing?early healing,Adjacent joints deformity or dislocation.In the latter stage of bone lengthing X-ray can observe the cortical bone formation and bone marrow cavity formation,combined with the clinical tell us the time when we can removal the external fixator.But the ordinary X-ray cannot evaluate the early callus formation,so we can not adjust the speed of bone lengthing in early period by this method.X-ray cannot observe the blood circulation near the distraction gap in the whole process,and cannot observe some complications like vascular and nerve injury by distraction and a cystic filling defect in the tibia.Simultaneously,X-ray only can qualitatively describe the new formation callus and cannot quantitatively detect new formation callus.Ultrasonography monitoring of bone lengthening has its own advantages,especially in the early stage of bone lengthing-period of haematoma and organization,X-ray cannot acquire the imaging information but ultrasonography can.The new formation callus can be observed erlier by ultrasonography.It show us the new formation callus much or little by analysis the imaging we acquired.According to the monitoring results we can adjust the distraction rate to avoid the complications like bone delay healing,bone premature healing and so on.For the other complications such as vascular and nerve injury by distraction and a cystic filling defect in the tibia can also be found in a timely manner by this method.There are some other advantages of ultrasonography like convenient carrying,noninvasive,inspectiong speedy,low cost,no radiation,easy to accept and so on.But in the latter stage of bone lengthing,we cannot acquire satisfactory information by this method,so it can not tell us the accurate time of removal the external fixator.Simultaneously,we cannot acquire the satisfactory the limb force lineinformation.And in latter stage of bone lengthing,this mothed cannot measure the gap of distraction.There are certain limitations for ultrasonography quantitative monitoring the new formation callus.Conclusion X-ray and ultrasonography have their respective advantages and disadvantages.This two methods each other can not be replaced,and they complement each other in monitoring the whole process of bone lengthing.If the two methods were combined together,they will give us much more accurate information during bone lengthing.
