ObjectiveTo investigate the characteristic of postural blood pressure change in patient with metabolic syndrome.MethodsA total of 939 subjects from the first affiliated hospital of Fujian medical university were enrolled from March 2016 to December 2016.Subjects were divided into metabolic syndrome(MS)group(n=522,324 men and 198 women,61.15±11.24 years)and non-MS group(n=417,264 men and 153 women,56.64±11.37 years).Patients with MS and patients without MS also stratified into young/middle-aged level(<65 year)and elderly level(?65 year)by age at the cut-point of 65 years old.Meanwhile, all subjects had subgroups based on the number of abnormal metabolic components. The determinants were analyzed by binary logistic regression analysis.ResultBased on the data of this study, results were as follows: 1.Compared with non-MS group, the percentage of orthostatic hypotension(OH)was higher in MS group(3.84% vs 8.43%,P<0.05)but the percentage of orthostatic hypertension(OHT)had no significant difference in two groups.2.Elderly individuals had higher percentages of OH and OHT than that in young/middle-aged individuals both in patients with MS or without MS.In young/middle-aged individuals, the percentages of OH and OHT in patients with MS were higher than that in patients without MS.3.After all subjects had subgroups based on the number of abnormal metabolic component, there was significant difference among the groups in the percentage of OH(P<0.05).But there was no significant difference among the groups in the percentage of OHT(P>0.05).4.Binary logistic regression analysis showed following results.(1)Determinants of orthostatic hypotension(OH): Age and the number of abnormal metabolic components were determinants of OH in all subjects. This result also remains in men. However,in women, age was not into the equation. The number of abnormal metabolic components was main determinant of OH in young/middle-aged subjects(<65 year). While that in elderly subjects(?65 year),age was main determinant of OH.(2)Determinants of orthostatic hypertension(OHT): Age was main determinant of OHT except of young/middle-aged subjects(<65 year).Conclusion1.Metabolic syndrome was main determinant of OH.The prevalence of OH showed a significantly increasing trend with the increase of the number of abnormal metabolic component.2.The number of abnormal metabolic component was main determinant of OH in young/middle-aged individuals(<65 year). While that in elderly individuals(?65 year),age was main determinant of OH.3.Age was main determinant of OHT except of young/middle-aged individuals(<65 year).
